THE LORD'S PRAYER
REFLECTIONS ON THE PRAYER OF JESUS

COURSE DESCRIPTION

This is a study of the prayer that Jesus taught His disciples of all ages to pray found in Matthew 6. Emphasis is placed upon: the overall purpose of prayer, analysis of each petition for its deepest meaning, application for today.

Special emphasis is placed on (1) the two main parts and the three petitions of the Lord's prayer, (2) what it means for God to be our Father, (3) the eight names of God that reveal His character and person, (4) the qualities and the qualifications of the Kingdom of God, and (5) understanding the will of God.

COURSE OBJECTIVES

○ To analyze the Lord’s Prayer as Jesus instructed us

○ To explore its principles of power and understand them

○ To apply them to our own prayer lives as Christians

○ To appreciate more than ever our prayer possibilities in Christ

Dr. Ronald E. Cottle

Dr. Ronald E. Cottle is the Founder and President Emeritus of Christian Life School of Theology (CLST Global), the Founder and President of Beacon College in Columbus, Georgia, the Founder and President of Cottle College and a former President of the Assemblies of God Seminary in Springfield, Missouri. He received a diploma in Theology from Southeastern Bible Institute, Lakeland, Florida, a B.A. in English-Religion, Florida Southern College in Lakeland, Florida, the M-Div. from Lutheran Theological Southern Seminary, Columbia, South Carolina, and both the Ph.D. in Religion and the M.S.Ed. and Ed.D. in Higher Education from the University of Southern California, Los Angeles. Dr. Cottle and his wife of sixty-plus years, Joanne reside in Columbus, Georgia and have one son, Ron Jr.
